It is the mission of the Office of Gifted and Talented Education to recognize and identify gifted and exceptionally talented students, nurture each child’s social/emotional development and enhance their curriculum experience so that these unique individuals may reach their fullest potential.
North offers a rigorous and relevant academic program along with differentiated instruction strategies that ensures all students have access and support necessary to master the courses. A variety of Honors and AP classes are offered in order to provide multiple opportunities for students to take greater responsibility for their learning. They are designed to demand more challenging involvement than standard courses. Students who take honors courses aspire to a higher level of learning. Theses classes can be taken as electives. Dual Enrollment (DE), another academic opportunity, allows academically talented students to earn transcripted college credit while still at Omaha North High Magnet School.

Magnet programs offer specialized curriculum and increased resources in a specific area. North’s magnet program offers an exciting, dynamic and challenging curriculum in four specific areas: Engineering and Technology, Mathematics, Science, Technology. Each of these areas has developed a four-year sequence of courses which, when combined with college preparatory courses introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of the magnet program.
There are other opportunities at North that exist inside and outside the classroom for students identified in one or more of the five areas of giftedness: Intellectual, Academic, Visual and Performing Arts, Creativity and Leadership. High ability learners have the opportunity to participate in a gifted program at North that gives them experiences far above that of typical high school students.
